RULES/PROCEDURES FOR WATCHING A SCHOOL GAME:

  1. Students that are staying for after school games must either be in an after school supervised activity until gametime or attend Commons.
  2. Make sure that your family knows that you are staying after school.
  3. Students may also go home and return for the game WITH A PARENT/GUARDIAN.
  4. Commons:
  • Commons is a place for students to wait for an event to begin.
  • Commons will be held in the small cafeteria on game days.
  • Students staying for commons must remain in commons for the duration of the time (bathroom breaks are allowed, of course).
  • Students who wish to stay for commons must sign up in SMO during their lunch period, the day of the event. 
  • Commons are only for games that start at 4:00 PM, or earlier. 
  1. Estudiantes que se queden para los juegos después de clases deben estar en una actividad supervisada hasta la hora del juego o asistir a Commons.
  2. Asegúrate de que tu familia sepa que te vas a quedar después de clases.
  3. Los estudiantes también pueden ir a casa y regresar para el juego CON UN PADRE/TUTOR.
  4. Commons:
  • Commons es un lugar donde los estudiantes pueden esperar hasta que comience un evento.
  • Commons se llevará a cabo en la cafetería pequeña los días de juego.
  • Los estudiantes que se queden en Commons deben permanecer allí durante todo el tiempo (se permiten descansos para ir al baño, por supuesto).

North Middle School Morning Intramural Sports

Location: gymnasium

Time: 7:15 am - 7:45 am, Monday- Friday

ONLY when school is in session. Not held on school delays.

Who can join? All 6th, 7th and 8th graders

Weekly Schedule:

Monday - Mix it Up Monday - variety of sports

Tuesday - Soccer, European handball

Wednesday - Badminton, Pickleball

Thursday - Volleyball

Friday - Basketball

Important Notes: 

  • Gym doors will be locked at 7:30 am. Students arriving after that time will be directed to the large cafeteria.
  • Once students enter the gym, they must remain there for the duration of the session.
  • Sneakers are required, and participation is a must!

REMINDERS TO ALL STUDENTS of some protocols in place to help you achieve success on a daily basis.

  • NMS Prepares and Cares:
    1. Cell phones, AirPods/Headphones, etc. are not to be used during the school day.
    2. Grab and Go breakfast is to be taken BEFORE arriving at your first period class. DO NOT go to class and then go back for breakfast.
    3. Proper student attire is required. This means that CROCS (in sports mode) are allowed. Slides are NOT allowed.
    4. Students who make the choice to wear slides during the day will receive consequences. 
    5. Athletes may wear slides before/after practice, NOT during the school day.
       
  • Lateness to Class:
    1. You have 8 minutes before 1st period and 4 minutes between classes. 
    2. Students who arrive late to class will face their teacher's lateness policy.
    3. If students are habitually late to classes, SMO will also intervene.
    4. Administration is working on a plan to deal with students who arrive late to lunch. Please make sure you arrive on time.
       
  • Laptop Distribution:
    1. Students who need to borrow a laptop must get a pass from their teacher in order to get on the line. 
    2. If you do not have a pass, you will be sent to class without a laptop.
       
  • Dismissal:
    1. Instruments: BUS RIDERS ONLY may get their instruments starting at 2:30, if needed.
    2. Athletes, walkers, bike riders, & scholars being picked up MUST wait until walkers are dismissed to leave your classroom.
    3. Bike Riders: 
      1. You must walk your bike on school property and in all crosswalks.
      2. Lock your bike.

PROCEDURES TO  WATCH A SPORT AFTER SCHOOL:

A few reminders for students who wish to attend afterschool sports games/matches:

  1. All students must have their own student ID card. Images/pictures may not be accepted. Purchase a new ID in SMO during your lunch.
  2. All students must have a ride arranged prior to the end of the game. Start calling for a ride before the end of the game.
  3. Students who do not have a ride may not be permitted to stay for future games.
  4. The District Code of Conduct and all school rules and are always in effect.
  5. Students may not stay after school unless they are in a supervised activity.
  6. You may go home and return to school before the game/match begins.
  7. If you stay after school and are not in a supervised activity, you may be denied entrance to the game/match.

A GREAT SCHOLAR:

  •  Brings their charged laptops to all classes​.  Borrowing Laptops:​ To borrow a laptop, scholars need their ID cards.​ Scholars must return borrowed laptops by 2:25 PM each day.

  • Follows all school guidelines.​

  • Wears appropriate footwear​.

  • Dresses appropriately each day.​

  • Moves safely through the halls from class to class.

BATHROOMS:

  • No bathroom passes after the 5-minute bell​

  • After 2:15, only the lobby bathroom is open

DISMISSAL PROCEDURE:

  • 2:29 PM:​  Instrument pick up, ​

  • Laptop return &​ Bus rider dismissal via announcement​

  • Announcement from Front Office: ​ Walker Dismissal
