Youth and Government Club Attends Suffolk County Legislature

Brentwood's Youth and Government Club took part in a special field trip over the Mid-Winter Recess week that saw them experiencing the feeling of being politicians in the real world.

The members of the club---comprised of the four middle schools in the district---appeared at the Suffolk County Legislative offices with bills they had written in November and presented to the New York State legislature at that time. Two students from each school were voted as Presiding Officer and Deputy Presiding Officer at the meetings, with the bills voted on by their peers in the house of legislation.

The students were joined in the building by Suffolk County legislator Samuel Gonzalez along with club moderator Mary Grizzle, who received a special proclamation from the legislature for providing nearly thirty years of service to the club and community.
